Gave a speech at the SEA Conference on Drury Campus . Bunch of great folks, who were so engaged and played wonderfully with my presentation. If you could work with people like this on a consistent basis you’d never feel like you were putting in work.
Gave this speech last Friday May 15th prior to the Noble Color Party. As far as pre-party speeches go you need to only follow three simple rules. Be brief, have A point, and have hope. Even Al Gore’s mother wouldn’t want to hear him tell everyone how shafted we are with our planet prior to cocktails.
I would be willing to give anyone more details about this if they wanted. Slide number 7 is jacked up too….
Giving a talk tomorrow night about how to react in this economy to Strategic Inflection Points that are facing us in the marketplace. But, instead of taking the point of view of what business should be doing to solve “What’s Next” in their world I am presenting my ideas from what YOU should do to answer what’s next.
The more time I spend working with companies the more I realize that companies don’t do jack! People, however do revolutionize our world and the marketplace with it. My talk will be aimed at people who can change themselves and the companies they decide to align themselves with.

There is a tremendous amount of fear-mongering occurring in the business-sphere today. Don’t get me wrong, things are way different than they have ever been. People are losing jobs at record rates since TGD (the great depression), business leaders are running and desperate, but the amount of chaos being absorbed by regular people through news and reports is more than most can handle. For example, saw a report about a janitor opening in Ohio having several thousand applicants.
All in all it seems to be dire on all fronts, and that is why I gave a speech last week about creating a small strategy of how to get ourselves out of this rut of negative influence and into a position of excitement and news in our brands. It seems completely counterintuitive to what is happening in the marketplace, and that is the genius/madness that makes it work!

Impossible as it may sound, here is a version of TED 2009 if you only had one hour to spark conversation and were recapping it to a creative bunch of people who wanted to hear about the highlights – but lacked the 4 days to recreate the event. By the way…I would have liked to discuss more and more of the content and the people that I met there but we’ll save those discussions as we move along through the year, and keep them personal and offline.
